Broome County Land Bank Announces Completion of Second City ARPA Renovated Home in 2024
Single-Family House in the City of Binghamton Now for Sale
City of Binghamton, NY – The Broome County Land Bank Corporation announced the completion of their second renovated home using an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant from the City of Binghamton, located at 52 Beethoven Street. Broome County Land Bank Executive Director Jessica Haas, Land Bank Board of Directors Chairman Aaron Martin, and other Land Bank Board members were joined by Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, City of Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham, and other officials to celebrate the event.
Similar to 34 Andrews Avenue, 52 Beethoven Street, a single-family home, was renovated using ARPA grant funds that the Land Bank was awarded by the City of Binghamton. The partnership between the Land Bank and the City of Binghamton calls for the renovation of 10-12 single-, and two-family homes by 2026. New York State Homes and Community Renewal also provided funds for predevelopment and environmental remediation expenses. This rehabilitation project is the second affordable homeownership opportunity provided through both funding sources. This project continues the goals of the Land Bank’s existing Affordable Homes Program that aims to provide affordable homeownership opportunities to income qualified buyers in the City of Binghamton.
The renovated home provides an affordable homeownership opportunity for low-to-moderate-income individuals and families. It is available for purchase through the Land Bank’s Affordable Homes Program, under the supervision of the Land Bank and The SEPP Group. The home will be listed for $169,900, and anyone interested in learning more about the home or the process for purchasing the home should contact the Program’s realtor, John Farrell, EXIT Realty Homeward Bound at 607-760-5000 or by email at john@exitnys.com.
“The Broome County Land Bank is proud to announce the completion of 52 Beethoven Street today with all of our project partners, especially the City of Binghamton, who has provided the primary funding source for this project and many other renovation projects here in Binghamton,” said Jessica Haas, Executive Director of the Broome County Land Bank Corporation. “This home will provide a family with the opportunity to achieve their dream of homeownership while achieving the Land Bank’s mission to address blight in our community. I’d also like to thank New York State Homes and Community Renewal for their funding towards the project, as well as Broome County for working with the Land Bank to acquire the property.”
“Another vacant property is renovated and ready for a new family to call home thanks to the City of Binghamton’s partnership with the Broome County Land Bank,” said Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham. “This project is helping protect the integrity of a vibrant West Side neighborhood and expanding access to homeownership for Binghamton residents. It’s the latest example of our work to strengthen our neighborhoods, reduce blight and take real steps to fix the statewide affordable housing crisis. I’m grateful to the Land Bank for their partnership. Together, we’re building a meaningful track record of delivering results for Binghamton’s neighborhoods.”
“We are thrilled to celebrate the completion of another renovated home in our community, made possible through the collaboration of the Broome County Land Bank and the City of Binghamton,” said County Executive Jason Garnar. “This project not only enhances our neighborhoods but also opens the door to homeownership for families in need, demonstrating our commitment to creating sustainable, affordable housing solutions.”
“Thank you to Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham for your partnership with the Land Bank to create safe and quality affordable homeownership opportunities for local residents with ARPA funding,” said Broome County Legislature Chairman Dan J. Reynolds. “My colleagues and I on the Legislature are proud to partner with the Land Bank to revitalize tax foreclosed properties throughout our community.”
The SEPP Group is pleased to partner with the Broome County Land Bank as it continues to transform neighborhoods throughout our community by providing high quality affordable housing in collaboration with the City of Binghamton.
“The American Rescue Plan Act-funded restoration of another blighted Binghamton property breathes new life into this remarkable community by uplifting a neighborhood with enhanced housing stock. 52 Beethoven Street builds upon the restoration of a property on Andrews Avenue and will soon be complemented by up to 10 additional ARPA-backed home restorations across the city of Binghamton,” said New York State Homes & Community Renewal Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas. “Thank you to the Broome County Land Bank for their continued work to revitalize Binghamton, to the Biden-Harris Administration for their support through ARPA, and to Governor Hochul for her dedication to restoring homes and creating housing opportunities across the Empire State.”
Clearview Door & Window was the general contractor and Construction Management Associates provided management services for the project. Keystone Material Testing oversaw the environmental services and Keystone Associates provided professional architectural services.
