Broome County Land Bank Announces Launch of New Website
Binghamton, NY – The Broome County Land Bank Corporation announced today that they have gone live with a new and updated website. Still accessible by going to www.broomelandbank.org, the website has been re-designed to ensure information about the Land Bank’s programs and initiatives are more readily available to the public. Information such as program applications, property listings, Board meeting agendas, resolutions, and minutes, etc. are more streamlined and user-friendly.
“The Land Bank has wanted to undertake a re-design of our website for several years and we’re really proud of the final product that has been launched,” said Broome County Land Bank Executive Director Jessica Haas. “On behalf of the Land Bank, I’d like to thank New York State Homes & Community Renewal for funding this operational project, as well as Idea Kraft for their help in designing the website with us. Our goal with the new website was to increase user navigation and better portray what the Broome County Land Bank is all about.”
The funds utilized to undertake this project were provided by New York State Homes & Community Renewal (HCR) through their new Land Bank Initiative (LBI) funding program. This grant, which was available to all Land Banks across New York, provides the Broome County Land Bank with $200,000 per year for up to three years to support the operations of the organization.
“HCR is thrilled that our Land Bank Initiative played a role in launching the Broome County Land Bank’s new and improved website. The redesigned user-friendly platform increases transparency and puts information about the Land Bank, its programs, and property listings at the public’s fingertips,” said HCR Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas. “I look forward to seeing this website, and the rest of our three-year, $200,000 per year commitment contribute to the great work BCLB is doing turning distressed properties into affordable homeownership opportunities across Broome County.”
The Land Bank issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) in late 2022 for website design. Eight proposals were received and reviewed by Land Bank Board members and staff, with local firm Idea Kraft scoring the highest and subsequently awarded.
“The Broome County Land Bank has been very active in addressing blight in our community and creating affordable homeownership opportunities for families in our area,” said Broome County Land Bank Chairman Aaron Martin. “Our website is often the first place that the public goes to learn more about the programs that we run or the properties that we have available for purchase. This new, user-friendly website puts the Land Bank’s best foot forward to the public and I encourage everyone to visit it to learn more about the Land Bank.”
Established by Broome County in 2013 under the New York State Land Bank Act, the Broome County Land Bank is a nonprofit corporation created to target distressed, vacant, abandoned, and foreclosed properties with the goal of fostering community and economic development by eliminating blight and stabilizing neighborhoods.
